HOMETOWN: Skien, Telemark
RESIDENCE: Lommedalen, Bærum
SCHOOL: I am currently working, and not going to any school.
HOBBIES: Gaming, mostly LoL and WoW, and cosplaying and crafting cosplays.
ZODIAC SIGN: Sagittarius

CF. How did you get into cosplay, who did you portray first, and why?

TMR: My first experience cosplaying was at the Los Angeles Anime Expo in 2009. I was wearing a lolita Chi costume that I’d bought off ebay, simply because I liked the show. I’d noticed most first-time cosplayers buy their costumes, to kind of sample the mood, or the culture, at the cosplay events before making their own; and I was daunted at the prospect at making something like that by myself. Anyway, I went there in costume because I was, and still am, a huge fan of anime, and wanted to experience the “full package” of Anime Expo, and for me, that included cosplaying.

CF. What’s the best part of cosplay?

TMR:There are sort of two sides to cosplay, or two “stages” of experiencing cosplay – first making the costume, and then wearing it to a convention. The best part of these stages respectively, for me, are:
1. The wonderful sense of accomplishment when finishing a costume or a piece of it, to see all the hours of work and painting and sanding and burns finally take shape! 🙂
2. The awesome sense of community at the conventions; everyone is so open and friendly, everyone has more or the less the same interests, and so lots of new friendships are made!

CF. If you could be any super hero or villain who would you be and why?

TMR:Storm from X-Men. Both because flight is an awesome power! And because the prospect of controlling something so powerful and volatile as the weather – tornadoes and lightning bolts – appeals to me 😀

CF. If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?

TMR:Lady Gaga, she’s not afraid to be herself or speak her mind. I am also very much into art, and Gaga practically breathes art. I of course also love her music.

CF. What’s your favorite sci-fi movie and what captivates you about the plot?

TMR:I can’t decide on a single one among them, so I’m gonna have to put down the Star Wars movies. The original triology. What captivates me about them? Everything – the characters, the universe, the Force, the plot. My favorite character must be Darth Vader.

CF. What’s the craziest thing a fan has sent you or requested?

TMR:I haven’t received any fan-gifts, but one guy got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him, using one of my Miss Fortune guns as a ring. ^^;

CF. What sidekick would you hire to be your personal assistant and why?

TMR:I already have an assistant, he’s very good at his job, and he reminds me a lot of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred 😉
So Alfred. 😀

CF. What character intimidates the heck out of you, why, and when will you attempt to take the challenge to portray them?

TMR:I would have to say Jinx, from League of Legends. She’s pretty much completely insane and bloodthirsty, while I’ve always cosplayed cute, posh or “sexy” characters – so it’ll be a challenge to really embody her. I’m already working on a Jinx cosplay, but I’m taking my time to complete it, to make it as good as I want it to be!

CF. Do you know a lot about the series you cosplay?

TMR:Yes, I make it a point to cosplay characters I know, from series and shows I’m familiar. For example, I play all the games I’ve cosplayed from.

CF. What’s your favorite comic con to attend and what makes it so special?

TMR:I have yet to attend an actual Comic Con, but among other cons I’ve attended, I would have to say Närcon in Sweden. It is huge, for Scandinavia, and it has “everything”. All the things you’d want in an anime/cosplay convention, booths and entertainment, food and drink, and big outdoor areas to just relax with friends! 🙂

CF. What comic cons are you definitely attending this year?

TMR:No Comic Cons as of yet, but I’m definitely going to be at:

Kawaiicon in Norway, a smaller cosplay and anime con close to my hometown, which just has such a great community, and is a wonderful place for new and less experienced cosplayers to try their hand.
Gigacon in Norway – a new, huge LAN/expo with lots of big brands attending.
GEEKcore in Denmark.
Dreamhack Winter in Sweden.

CF. What’s one thing you wish fans wouldn’t do?

TMR:I have yet to experience anything from my fans that I would want them not to do, beyond trying to propose to me with piece of my cosplay. 😀

CF. Who was your favorite character to portray and what rocked about it?

TMR:I would have to say Soraka, both because it was a dream-cosplay of mine for a long time, and it is my most intricate costume to date. Most of all I love the hooves, even though they have a tendency to mess with my feet and knees for a few days after a con, if I’ve worn them for too long. 😀

CF. How do you keep cosplay fun?

TMR:It simply is fun! 😀 I watch the animies and play the games, I love the characters, and that all makes cosplaying great!

CF. Where can new fans go to follow you?

TMR:They can go to my cosplay page on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CosplayerTineMarieRiis
to my instagram: tinechan or my twitter: TineMarieRiis
they can also go to my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TineSama
I’m about to start making a lot more videos! 🙂

CF. Other than this interview, what’s the craziest thing you agreed to do?

TMR:Nothing yet. My life’s been pretty crazy-free up until now!

CF. In your opinion what’s the meaning of life?

TMR:To experience all that life has to offer. ^3^
