CF-How did you get into cosplay, who did you portray first, and why?
I got into Cosplay via theater. I was a theater geek and my stay-at-home Dad indoctrinated me with Doctor Who and the original series BSG. We used to make regular trips to the comic book store. Once I stopped doing theater I still needed a creative outlet and when two favorite hobbies love each other very much they create something awesome!
CF-What’s the best part of cosplay?
The best part of Cosplay for me is the ability to learn new techniques from so many talented people and to be inspired by them. We have a great community of resources and I’ve built many close friendships because of it!
CF-If you could be any super hero or villain who would you be and why?
I would be Poison Ivy. She helps save the Earth, looks fantastic and she’s a brilliant (yet mad) doctor of science!
CF-If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?
I would like to meet Neil Gaiman again. He’s one of my favorite authors and I would kill for the chance to have a real, creative conversation again. If he wasn’t available, I’d like to talk to the Head Librarian of the library of Alexandria, see if we could get a conclusive list of the books that were there.
CF-What’s your favorite sci-fi movie and what captivates about the plot?
My favorite sci-fi movie would depend on my mood. I love watching Alien, but I think the standby has to be Star Wars, the original trilogy, no fancy edits.
CF-What’s the craziest thing a fan sent you or requested?
I don’t get too many crazy things- sometimes I get crazy awesome, like someone brought me a Senketsu (from Kill La Kill) phone charm from Japan which made me so happy!
CF-What sidekick would you hire to be your personal assistant and why?
I would probably choose someone who could manipulate time or magic. Hermione Granger, would probably be the best candidate.
CF-What character intimidates the heck out of you, why, and when will you attempt take the challenge to portray them?
I want to make a full Master Chief suit, and that intimidates me because that is one of my favorite characters and I really don’t want to mess it up! I’ll probably do it within the next few years.
CF-Do you know a lot about the series you cosplay?
I try to have a familiarity with the characters I choose to cosplay. I figure if I’m spending that amount of time and money on something it should be something I like, either design or by character. Usually I’ll watch/play the material so that I can become familiar, which usually turns me into a crazy fan 🙂
CF-What’s your favorite comic con to attend and what makes it so special?
Dragon Con is always my favorite convention to attend. It is the one con a year I don’t work and just go to let my hair down. It is in 4 hotels so there is no need to drive or really even leave! It is great!
CF-What comic con’s are definitely attending this year?
I’m attending Planet Comic Con, AC Boardwalk Con, Celebration VI, SDCC and Dragon Con as of now.
CF-What’s one thing you wish fans wouldn’t do?
I wish they wouldn’t call themselves “fans”. I dislike that word, mostly because I believe we are all fans and many people who started out as admirers of my work are now good friends!
CF-Who was your favorite character to portray and what rocked about it?
I love portraying Poison Ivy. She has always been my favorite comic book character, so when I get painted, or slip on that suit- I get really happy “being” her. The other one I’d have to choose is Starbuck from the recent reboot of BSG. I can be belligerent, smoke a cigar and give people a hard time. All while being in a super comfortable costume.
CF-How do you keep cosplay fun?
I remember each day why I do it. Why I risk the hot glue burns, the judgement and the joys. It is because I love it, because I love the fandom and it is a part of me. It is in my heart, so I’ll keep going, no matter what, I’ll always be a fangirl.

CF-Other than this interview, what’s the craziest thing you agreed to do?
Be Jason to Adrianne Curry’s Freddy in the Nerdist’s Halloween video. That was pretty crazy!
CF-In your opinion what’s the meaning of life?
The meaning of life is to live it and to be the change you want to see in the world!
