HOBBIES: Reading, drawing/sketching, watching movies, walking around the city
ZODIAC SIGN: Virgo

CF. How did you get into cosplay, who did you portray first, and why?

JH:Because of my boyfriend, Tony (Harley’s Joker), brought up the idea of doing a Harley costume and it only made sense that I, his girlfriend, would being wearing that said costume since he portrayed the Joker.

CF. What’s the best part of cosplay?

JH:1. Getting designs and ideas out of your head and fleshed out. 2. Interacting with like-minded people and being a role model to encourage and boost self-esteem.

CF. If you could be any super hero or villain who would you be and why?

JH:I looove Harley, but ever since I was a little girl I really wanted to be Hawkgirl. I thought she was a great design!! Her color scheme, her badass helmet; is a kickass and strong female character.

CF. If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?

JH:No comment.

CF. What’s your favorite sci-fi movie and what captivates about the plot?

JH:Ohh that’s a really hard one! I can’t choose just one so I’ll make a list, lol. Stargate, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Alien, Galaxy Quest, Star Trek Wrath of Khan, Minority Report, The Fifth Element, Sunshine, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, does Terminator 2 count?,…..anything with robots or androids…….Oh! Back to the Future, Moon…..That’s all from the top of my head. Sorry for ignoring what you asked….

CF. What’s the craziest thing a fan sent you or requested?

JH:One asked to sign a feminine product as a request. Another sent me a laptop since I had mentioned the reason why I took a while to respond was because I has no computer of my own and had to wait for my boyfriend to be at work to use it. She is will be receiving quite the gift soon.

CF. What sidekick would you hire to be your personal assistant and why?

JH:In comic book world I would choose Nightcrawler because if Mr. J throws me I can be BAMF’ed right back inside, BAMF me into the movie theater or a bank vault, BAMF me free food, etc. Purely evil and self tasks.

CF. What character intimidates the heck out of you, why, and when will you attempt take the challenge to portray them?

JH:Costume wise it would be Zam Wesell from Star Wars. She is my dream cosplay, but her outfit is sooo interesting with unique materials that I would have no idea how to tackle her.

CF. Do you know a lot about the series you cosplay?

JH:Yes. I grew up with Batman: The Animated Series and like everyone else gravitated towards the character of Harley Quinn. She’s deep and shallow, happy and sad, strong and weak ALL at the same time! I know her character as well as the show which helps me portray her as well as take her and morph her into something new.

CF. What’s your favorite comic con to attend and what makes it so special?

JH:Out of the official conventions, not including the Comic Book Day event I went to (which was amazing!!) I have attended I think that Big Wow ComicFest is still my favorite. I LOVED it last year, it was small and open, not very crowded. This year it was a bit bigger and had a cosplay table to man, but I loved the interactions and I was taken care of there. I was looked after and was not tied down by a strict schedule so I could run off real quick to wander or show up a bit late and not be scolded because of costume malfunction. It’s very laid back and the people who are involved with it are amazing people!

CF. What comic con’s are definitely attending this year?

JH:New York Comic Con!

CF. What’s one thing you wish fans wouldn’t do?

JH:Tell me to do things or questions the things I do. For example, many TELL me to wear blue contacts, many ask as well, but telling me to do something is not okay since there is obviously a reason why I’m not wearing them. When I tell them I’m too sensitive for contacts half of them understand and don’t push (awesome) and the other half tell me that I’m not a true cosplayer or a true of the character if I can’t do it 100% right (not awesome). Cosplay is for fun, I am an adult dressing up for my own and others amusement. A little understanding for the little things is all I want.

CF. Who was your favorite character to portray and what rocked about it?

JH:I only have portrayed Harley and it rocks to be her because I can be silly and goofy, pouty and upset and no one can question me, lol. I can photobomb and get away with it. I can be outrageously silly and get away with it. I love that I can slightly crude with adults, but turn around and be “princess” Harley with children.

CF. How do you keep cosplay fun?

JH:I try and remember that even though I love the fact that others get enjoyment out of what I do, that I have to make sure that I get enjoyment out of it first. I will not bend and twist myself into something I find uncomfortable or whatever to make them happy. If I’m not happy then I’m not going to pretend that I am. It may be selfish, but it’s true.

CF. Where can new fans go to follow you?

JH: Facebook.com/JokersHarleyCosplay

CF. Other than this interview, what’s the craziest thing you agreed to do?

JH:A date with a guy I didn’t even really know, but now is my wonderful boyfriend of 2 years so I guess it worked out in the end 😉

CF. In your opinion what’s the meaning of life?

JH:Have fun and try not to stress the little stuff, cliché and said all the time, but I’ve wasted so much time stressing that enough is enough.
